Q. I rang the Independent Safeguarding Authority and asked for the expected implication placed upon a voluntary sector
sports club with regard to the vetting and barring scheme – operational as well as financial – I also asked just where clubs and associations could seek information for themselves.
A. Within a sports club – if an individual is providing coaching, training or skills for a vulnerable group on a regular basis they will ultimately need to register under this scheme. Whilst
there is a payment attached to employers providing this service is being provided on a purely voluntary basis then the registration is free.
The advisor added that the material that has come out from the agency recently is the first real attempt at getting the important message across.
In a questions and answer service that she referred me to it does state when asked;
How much does ISA – registration cost?
It costs £64 to register. This is a one off payment that lasts for life, in most cases. Only those individuals involved in unpaid work will be able to register for free.
