Newly accepted onto the NMCL programme, Alcraft Motor Company is a British-owned vehicle business dedicated to electric motoring and focused on creating products which are beautifully designed, highly desirable and great to drive, but responsible to own.
Based in the Silverstone innovation cluster, the company is developing cars to satisfy customers wanting cars to be sustainable but exciting, bespoke yet affordable, cutting edge but traditionally crafted. The company’s aim is to apply the liberating, visceral thrill of the electrified driving experience to Britain’s world leadership in high-end, low-volume vehicles and motorsport-derived dynamics.
Alcraft has designed an electric ‘skateboard’ platform which can underpin three distinct models initially. The first of those, the GT, articulates the brand’s positioning. It is not another electric supercar – it’s high-performance but also unashamedly practical, a very British shooting brake-style rear giving access to a 500-litre luggage area. The exterior is dramatic but understated, and the interior has a modern, pared-back take on luxury. A target 0-62mph acceleration of under four seconds is fast but shows that Alcraft is not trying to chase the numbers at the expense of range – even with enthusiastic driving the GT will be able to cover over 300 miles between charges.
